Triple Chocolate Milka Brownies

There’s something about Milka chocolate that brings back good memories. Mainly from my childhood, trips to France and spending supermarket trips in the chocolate aisle, in search of some new sugar-coated treat.

Never before had I considered baking with Milka, until the desire to make rich, creamy brownies popped into my head.

I wanted the smell of chocolate to waft around the house, the satisfaction of stirring melted chocolate, beating cups and lovingly pouring the mix into trays, waiting for something rich and gooey to bake. There are very few things I enjoy eating more than brownies, warm from the tray with ice-cream, I make myself comfortable and drift off to a carefree world.

The first time I published this recipe (circa 2012) I used a mix of white, chocolate and Oreo Milka chocolate. However this is tricky to locate, so I’d recommend just using plain or filled Milka and folding broken up pieces of Oreo if you so desire.

Ingredients 

 (Serves 8)

85g Dark chocolate

135g Milka Chocolate

50g Chocolate Chips

15g Cocoa powder

95g Self-raising Flour

2 Whole Eggs (beaten)

185g Unsalted Butter

225g Caster Sugar

Method

Melt the Milka Chocolate and Dark chocolate, the easiest way is using a heatproof bowl and defrosting the chocolate slowly in the microwave.

*Top tip – Freeze the chocolate chips/chunks first so they stay more ‘solid’ once the brownies are baked and cooled.

Pre:heat your oven at 180c and set side your baking tray and line this with grease proof paper (ensuring the sides are covered so you can lift your brownie out with ease).

Now you need to mix together your flour and coco powder and in a separate bowl mix together your eggs and caster sugar. When mixing the eggs and caster sugar I use a hand held electric mixer for speed and to ensure you obtain the perfect consistency.

Fold your chocolate/butter mix into your egg and sugar mix and once this is combined the final part is to mix in the coco powder/flour.

Once everything is nicely combined before baking mix in the chunks of Milka Chocolate and once this is integrated in pour the mix into your baking tray and bake for 20/25 mins (depending on your oven)

Then serve with good quality ice-cream whilst still warm – Heaven!
