Skins Compression Review
Compression wear; unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have heard of compression technology. I was recently sent some compression leggings from SKINS and thought this would be a good time to share my thoughts.
Firstly, what is compression wear?
Compression provides additional support, which can aid recovery after and during, a particularly tough workout. Compression wear can range from sleeves for arms/calves, to leggings, socks or long-sleeved tops and vests.
Does compression wear improve performance?
Good question; in this study the results showed that during a test on sixteen athletes there was no difference. However, it does continue to say that individual response does vary greatly. In my opinion, if I can recover from a race or workout faster, then I can train again sooner and that can only be a good thing.
Why should you consider SKINS compression?
To start, SKINS A400.DNAmic, RY400, Essentials and TRI400 ranges are the only high-performance apparel to take into account compression levels needed to increase oxygen delivery to active muscles while in motion.
If scientifically technical details aren’t your thing, let me show you what drew me to the DNAmic Thermal Long Tights.

The thermal aspect was a huge selling point for me, if you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll know I’ve recently started taking part in regular obstacle course races. I needed tights that offered support and warmth alongside the additional benefit of staying in shape, if and when I got wet during the event.
Is compression for running only?
Absolutely not! SKINS compression is ideal for cyclists and weight lifting/HIIT training, we all know how crucial recovery is after a tough gym workout.

How’s the fit of SKINS Compression wear?
It’s worth keeping in mind that compression clothing sizes work differently to the standard UK sizing system. For example, the SKINS website will help you chose the correct size accordingly to your weight and height. I’m 5’6 and around 65kg so a size ‘small’ fitted me perfectly, compression is meant to be ‘form fitting’ whilst remaining comfortable.
Fancy trying SKINS Compression?
