Little Ways To Appreciate People & Say Thank You…

“Here’s to those who inspire you and don’t even know it…”

I have some incredible people in my life, no seriously, I do. Yet sometimes, it feels hard to show appreciation, of course, a “Thank you” goes a long way, but how can you show you care, in a small and thoughtful way?

Listen – How good does it feel to have someone lend an ear? When I say, I mean put your phone down, turn off the TV and focus on what that person is telling you. By giving people our full attention we are showing respect, giving them our time and more often than not, a problem shared is a problem halved. After all, it’s the little things that really show true appreciation, if you think someone needs you, make the first move.

Arrive on time, bring coffee – Not only is it polite to arrive in good time, but a friend that arrives on time and brings coffee is a glorious and wonderful friend. So, next time you want to show someone good grace and that you care, arrive on time and bring coffee (or hot chocolate, or tea!).

“An act of kindness does more good for you than the person you’re serving”

Share – In this digital age it only takes a moment to publicly shout out someone you care for and want to support. Does your friend have a cracking sense of humor? RT them. Excellent photography skills? Share their Instagram. We need to support our friends the same way we support our idols.

Write a note or card – I was having a tough time last year and a friend brought me an unexpected card and “Goals” book to help with my mental health. It meant the world, If you want to be authentic, a little card or short note goes a long way.

Organize something they really want to do – It could be something simple, like a picnic or booking an outdoor cinema experience or even just walking somewhere special. Whatever it is, make it happen and chances are, you’ll enjoy it too.
