It’s been a while..

Firstly, I need to say a huge thank you to every person who e-mailed, commented or tweeted me about my last post. It means so much, thank you, because I felt less alone, less selfish and ready to move forwards and work towards inner peace, or something along those lines.

Life has been an absolute rollercoaster during these last few weeks, as a matter of fact, I never knew just how strong I was until life presented a situation I’d never experienced before. I know that wallowing in sadness wouldn’t be the solution, this evening I feel like sharing some positivity.

During the past few weeks I…

*Used my extra time to start cooking from scratch more – I’ve really enjoyed following a more varied weekly menu and serving up new meals for us to enjoy. My energy levels have been very low, so I’m back in iron tablets whilst enjoying steaks and leafy greens.

*Started reading books again – This is something I really need to make more time for, I’m currently reading ‘The Life-Changing Magic Of Not Giving  A Fuck’. I’m not convinced It’s going to work overnight for me, but I do think it’s worth a try, what you give a fuck about is important….

*Went clay pigeon shooting – It was recently G’s birthday and as a gift, I booked us both a clay pigeon shooting experience. Whilst I’m not comfortable with the idea of shooting animals, I had a real blast *pun intended* and would definitely recommend it, surprisingly the women outnumbered the men in our group. I wasn’t the most natural whilst handling a gun, my ‘skills’ seem evolve around shooting too soon or too late, but I did hit a few targets! G made up for it by hitting almost every single target.

*Ran The Wolf Run – This was the first race of the year and my goodness, I have to say that it was fantastic! We were fortunate enough to be running on one of the warmest days of the year (so far...). The course had a beautiful countryside setting with natural obstacles, lots of running, great company and plenty of mud. Will I return? For sure!

*Returned for a second ‘Urban Tri‘ – I enjoyed the first one so much that I returned again, unfortunately it wasn’t as upbeat or exciting as the first event. The main thing was that It was an opportunity to head in to the Capital, workout and recover with something cold and bubbly.

*Started Run/Walk Commuting again – Thanks to this delightfully mild weather, I felt that the best way to get some ‘head space’ was to walk to work and run back when I had time. On the return there’s a point which is around half a mile of uphill, it’s tough and I swear under my breath but it’s getting easier.  I guess the moral of the story is that I really should stop avoiding hills.

*Attempted contouring – Won’t be doing that again in a hurry, I looked like an Umpa-Lumpa and I’m just not entirely sure that’s the way forwards for me…

What’s been positive for you during these past few weeks?

Katie
