How you can help others for free…

I’ll start this post by saying, I don’t feel like I need to reiterate that this is one of the hardest situations any of us will have experienced. But, it’s important that we try to help others if we can, however, it goes further than just staying at home (which you should absolutely do!). So, with this in mind I’ve come up with some free and easy ways you can help others right now…

Organise a video catch up…

Conversation is wonderfully free, plus with modern technology it’s easier than ever for us to catch up via social media, WhatsApp, Facebook or Zoom. Having a video call with people I care for always puts a huge smile on my face and I’m pretty sure it has the same impact on others too!

Domestic Violence is on the rise…

I’m so thankful that home is a safe place for me, I can only hope that the same applies to you – Right now any distancing from a dangerous situation can feel almost impossible and there are a few small ways we can help.

Firstly, if you think that someone is in an unsafe situation start by being supportive and listen, judgment won’t help, but patience and kindness will. The National Domestic Violence Hotline has some good suggestions on how we can help others in this situation.

Did you know – If 55 is pressed by the caller, the system will detect this. The operator will then transfer the call to the relevant police force as an emergency.

Many charities are in need of donations right now, but you can help for free by just spreading the message, it might be a social media share. For all you know, just a re-tweet might just help someone in need.

Please note, that if you are at risk, then you do not need to stay at home, you can find out more here. If you can afford to make a donation, please head over to Refuge, but I ask that you don’t assume all domestic abuse victims are female.

I know some of you might consider re-tweets or social shares pointless, but if we all took that view nothing would be shared and these messages wouldn’t reach anyone. So please remember that no small act of kindness and attempt to help is pointless.

Shop Via Amazon “Smile”…

If you need to buy essentials or something to make life a little more comfortable, that’s fine but please don’t forget Amazon “Smile”. This means every time you shop, a charity of your choice will receive a donation, at no cost to yourself. You can find out more here.

Clear out and donate…

This is the perfect chance to have a clear out, this weekend I finally cleared out my beauty and makeup products and I can’t tell you just how good it felt. I had been hoarding about 12 months of unused Birch Box goodies, pieces I’ve been gifted in PR packs and products that I never got around to using. So I filled a large box of new products and contacted my local hospital to arrange a safe drop off.

Stay Safe – Stay Kind
