Change your ‘resolutions’…

January will be with us before we know it, so will the resolutions brigade. There’s nothing wrong with setting ourselves a challenge, having aims and objectives or wanting a more fulfilling life.

The problem is, I think we tend to naturally set ourselves objectives which are unachievable or won’t necessarily bring us any real joy. With this in mind, I’ve made a list’s of alternative ways to look at the ‘typical’ resolutions.

I shall earn enough to buy myself some Louboutins Or I shall not be defined by ‘objects‘, no one is going to come to my funeral & say

I shall go to the gym every day… Or I shall fit a balance of fitness around my lifestyle in a sensible & enjoyable way…

I will run a ‘personal best of xyz’ Or I shall be thankful for the fact I can run, I’ll aim for a certain time but, mostly I’ll aim to run happy.

“Running isn’t a sport for pretty boys…It’s about the sweat in your hair and the blisters on your feet. Its the frozen spit on your chin and the nausea in your gut. It’s about throbbing calves and cramps at midnight that are strong enough to wake the dead. It’s about getting out the door and running when the rest of the world is only dreaming about having the passion that you need to live each and every day with. It’s about being on a lonely road and running like a champion even when there’s not a single soul in sight to cheer you on. Running is all about having the desire to train and persevere until every fiber in your legs, mind, and heart is turned to steel. And when you’ve finally forged hard enough, you will have become the best runner you can be. And that’s all that you can ask for.”

Paul Maurer – The Gift – A Runner’s Story

I shall lose 10lbs Or I should think more carefully about those 10lbs I’ve convinced myself that I should lose and figure out if I should just be content with my body instead.

Get off the scale! I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can show you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun shines its glorious rays on it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, sense of humour, and contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you for your perseverance when challenged in life.unknown source

The objective of this post is to make you reconsider some of the most common resolutions I see posted on social media. Make 2017 the best year possible for you, don’t feel that you need to follow peer pressure, follow your own path.

Anything you would add?

Katie
