Bodytek – Sustainable Sport Style

Over the past few years, for many consumers, our focus has switched to a more conscious way of shopping, eating and living. It’s important to remember that making a few small but effective sustainable changes is very simple, a few examples include: taking your own refillable coffee cup, avoiding excessive plastic use, recycling and walking when possible.

But what about clothing? Can that be more Eco-friendly too?

When I talk about sustainable fashion, the main question on peoples lips is how to avoid fast fashion? But, what exactly is fast fashion and why is it so damaging? In simple terms, fast fashion is mass produced, at extremely low cost, then to be sold to the masses, often to only be worn once. These clothes are often then discarded, because consumers are ready for the next fast fashion hit, leaving discarded clothing to fill up landfill sites. The problem is, I’m guilty as charged, whilst fast fashion is appealing but it’s not sustainable on a long term basis.

With this in mind, I want to introduce a new brand called Bodytek*, it’s not just ‘green because it’s trendy’, it really is an eco brand. When finding suppliers they visited the farms where the bamboo and organic cotton is grown. Alongside this, Bodytek made sure that they had seen their licenses and proof of their organic practices. Plus they visited the factories where the clothing is made, where the staff are paid a fair wage and work in safe conditions.

Finally, there is the packaging – Bodytek* uses a potato-starch based wrapper and paper which is 100% biodegradable. Other products are wrapped in paper, further avoiding plastic. The bottle is BPA free and made from recycled materials. It’s also 100% recyclable itself.

What did I honestly think of the products?

My first impressions were good, the top is made from a super soft and very ‘touchable’ material which had a very premium quality feel at a very affordable price. A surprising and welcome addition was the side pocket, every woman knows pockets are the source of true joy! Alongside this, I felt that the longer length style was very flattering, I went for size Medium which would fit sizes 10/12 – 12/14.

The superior quality was clear in the reusable water bottle, which was a much-needed addition to my life, especially as I’m trying to drink more water. When it comes to the bag, this isn’t something I’d go out of my way to purchase because I already own a fair few similar bags. Regardless, these do come in handy as I use these to transport my lunch or if I’m only taking a towel and water to the gym.

Overall I was very impressed with the quality of the products and I can’t wait to see what they add to the future collections.
