A Simple Guide To Sports Watches

*DisclosureThis post includes sponsored content.

The vast world of Sports Watches in a confusing one, where do you even start? What exactly do you need? Smart? Sporty? Or a mix of both?

In an attempt to make finding the ideal watch a bit easier for you, I’m breaking down some of the key elements you need to take into account before making an investment in a new watch

Start by establishing a price point

Firstly, you need to work out your budget, this will enable you to pin down the options available to you without becoming overwhelmed by all the different choices.

Is a fitness watch the right choice for you?

It might be that all you need is something that monitors your daily steps, calories and even your sleep, if this is the case look no further than a fitness tracker. However, if you’re looking to start running, it’s worth considering a slightly more advanced option with built-in GPS. Or for workouts such as HIIT training, a built-in heart rate monitor will give you a better calorie burn indication.

Are you a runner?

Then the most sensible solution would be to look into a watch with a built-in GPS function so that you’re able to track the basics like your everyday steps for example. But also track more important data such as your running times, the distance you covered, and even the route elevation.

  1. What about Heart Rate Training?

Many people find the process of training to heart rate a useful exercise when working towards building a stronger level of running fitness. Therefore, if you’re looking to take your training to the next level and monitor recovery, this is another box that might be worth you ticking when buying a new watch.

Top TipPlease keep in mind if your dream watch doesn’t have a built-in heart rate monitor, check to see if there’s the option to link up a sensor.

What about one watch that covers lots of different sports?

At the higher price range, it’s easier to track down a watch that will work within every part of your lifestyle. Brands like Garmin and Apple; have options that include sports such as running, hiking, cycling, swimming, weight lifting, and even yoga or skiing.

Top Tip – The market for Women’s sports watches can feel overwhelming, but take your time to research and find the right watch for you.

How about built in music?

I’ve recently reviewed some of the most popular wireless headphones on the market, I personally wear a Garmin Venu watch and love that fact that Spotify is built-in. So, if you’re looking to leave your phone at home and just use your watch/headphones, then you’ll be happy to know many watches have a built-in option for music these days.

What makes a watch “Smart”?

In simple terms, a smartwatch will connect to the internet with the facility to access various applications and provide updates to your watch, such as text messages and social media updates.

Little extra’s that might come in handy…

For those who like the community spirit, it’s worth checking if the watch can be linked to applications such as Strava. Or if you’re a user of My Fitness Pal, it might be worth looking into a fact that is compatible with this too, plus some watches come with benefits such as built-in training and workouts.

I hope you’ve found this interesting and enjoy finding the right watch for you!
